Our Cardamom has a strong, sweet, pungent flavour and aroma, with hints of lemon and mint. It's produced in Guatemala and is a common ingredient in Indian and Middle Eastern cooking. We love using this spice when making Indian tea.
The pod contains a number of seeds and can be used whole or ground. If you're thinking of using this spice in your cooking, it works well in sweet dishes and also savoury dishes and is a top pick amongst its rivals, black cardamom and white cardamom.
Cardamom is best kept sealed in air-tight bags or containers. To remove the seeds, lightly fry the pods in a pan on low heat and gently remove the seeds. Do not throw away the pods, you can keep the pods to use in coffee! This wonderful spice has been used for thousands of years to help with digestion, ulcers and to reduce blood sugar levels.
