Tandoori masala is one of the lesser-known spice blends that’s made it’s way out of the eastern culinary world in the past few decades. Typically, if something is referred to as ‘tandoori’, people may imagine that it was cooked in a Tandoor, a type of traditional oven that is buried in the ground to maintain high heats.
While this is sometimes the reason that a food item is referred to as ‘tandoori’, it can also be because tandoori powder has been used during the cooking process. Our tandoori masala is a spice blend that aims to brilliantly pair earthy flavors with aromatic ones, and it definitely delivers!
Typically, the blend is made up of coriander, cumin, garlic powder, ginger, cloves, mace, fenugreek, cinnamon, black pepper, cardamom, and nutmeg. This list is full of heavy hitters in terms of flavor, with garlic and cardamom sure to give the blend an aromatic mix, and ginger and mace set to give the blend some oomph.
