Green lentils are a wonderful ingredient to have in your kitchen - both to bulk out soups and curries, as well as to serve as a light but filling side dish. We’ve grown up eating lentils with nearly every meal, and we’re really proud of these green lentils that we’ve sourced. Lentils are powerhouses of nutrition and flavor, and our wonderful green lentils are no exception. If you’re practicing a plant-based diet, we’d recommend sampling these lentils - they’re packed with vegetarian- and vegan-friendly protein, ideal for ensuring you’re getting what you need.
Green lentils, specifically, have a slightly peppery flavor and maintain a gently al dente flavor when cooked, making them the perfect accompaniment to a salad, or stuffing for a baked potato. You can store our wonderfully affordable green lentils for up to a year, which makes them an ideal pantry staple - if you ever find yourself in need of an extra little side dish, our lentils will be there. A great benefit of green lentils is that they cook in no time at all. All you need to do is rinse them and boil them - then your side dish is ready to go! Our green lentils will cook to perfection in eighteen to twenty minutes, while other varieties can take a lot longer - thirty minutes isn’t unheard of!
A great way to serve our delicious lentils is as a generous side dish that will help people leave your dining table happy and full! We’d recommend starting off by gently rinsing your lentils in a sieve, before adding them to a pan. To the pan, add four times as much water as lentils, by volume. For example - you could add one cup of lentils, and four cups of water. This would serve five people as a small side dish.
While the pan’s heating, add in some of your favorite spices! We’d suggest adding in a cinnamon stick and a couple of cloves, this will provide a rich, different taste experience which will make your side dish a wonderful offering in and of itself. When the lentils are tender, remove your spices and drain. Then, serve and enjoy!
